I Can't help but Wonder (You Version plan Extract)

The report was bleak, the moral was worse...

Why is it tha Christians are often pessimist about the culture? Have you notice? We mope and shake our heads in disgust. We walk around with our shoulders hunched and our spirits low. From all appearances, we've given uo and given in.

But the men who had gone uo with him spoke. They said, "We can't attack those peopl. they are stronger than we are". The mean spread a bad report about the land amog the people of irael. They said, "The land we cheacked out destroys those who live in it. All of the people we saw there are very big and tall". Numbers 13: 31-32 

 As I read Numerbs 13, I am struck by th account of the spies who has investigated th Promised Land. I'm not mistaking for a moment that the United States is the Promised Land, it's not... but I am struck by the pessimism of God's People!- honestly, it feels familiar. The land had giants and a value system that celebrateddestruction.

This was not news to God. He wan't sending His people on a suicide mussion; He was inivitng them to witness His surpassing power. A land that devours its habitants was no match for Him.

God didn't expect His people to be naive; He expected them to be confident!. God was on their side. This confidence should have birthed optimism.

What if we Christian Bucked the trent? what is we became cultural optimists? what is we choose to be optimsts about the transforming power of God. 

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39

Nothing can separate us. In all of the these that are going in your life God tells you "YOU HAVE ALREADY WON" through Jesus Christ.

Its time to follow Jesus to occupy the promises of God.
